Roles & Responsibilities

Lead daily nursing operations on the long term care unit, providing hands-on clinical care and supervision
Coordinate resident admissions, discharges, and transfers with an emphasis on safety and continuity of care
Delegate and supervise nursing staff and support personnel while mentoring and supporting professional development
Assess residents regularly, develop and update individualized care plans, and document clinical changes accurately
Administer medications and treatments according to policies and scope of practice, ensuring medication safety
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team to support resident-centered care
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help maintain compliance with regulatory standards

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — Alaska licensure or eligibility preferred
Experience working in long term care; prior charge nurse or leadership experience is a strong plus
BLS/CPR certification required; ACLS or other specialty certifications preferred when applicable
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and delegation skills
Excellent communication, documentation, and team leadership abilities

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or equivalent experience

Knowledge & Skills

Skilled in geriatric nursing and long term care best practices
Proficient with care planning, medication administration, and resident assessment
Ability to lead and mentor nursing staff while managing unit workflows
Comfortable using electronic health records and clinical documentation systems
Good understanding of regulatory and accreditation requirements for long term care
