Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile instrumentation and operative setup for CVOR cases, ensuring every tray and scope is ready when the team needs it
• Assist surgeons and the OR team throughout cardiovascular procedures, anticipating needs and delivering instruments promptly
• Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and OR safety protocols to protect patients and staff
• Document perioperative care accurately in Cerner and support efficient charting for case turnover
• Respond to on-call notifications within the 30-minute response window and support emergency cases when called
• Collaborate with charge nurses and OR techs to manage high-volume days (18–20 cases/day) and keep the suite running smoothly

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Tech experience, preferably in CVOR or high-acuity operating rooms
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and CST strongly preferred (CST preferred for techs)
• Proven experience with Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Comfortable with on-call responsibilities, nights and occasional weekend shifts
• Ability to work in a fast-paced OR environment and maintain composure under pressure

Education

• Surgical Technologist certificate/diploma or equivalent training (CST preferred)
• BLS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on knowledge of cardiovascular OR workflows and instrumentation
• Proficient with Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Familiarity with Phillips telemetry equipment and ventilator presence in the OR
• Strong sterile technique, instrument handling, and case turnover skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with surgeons, nurses, and techs
