Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing and analysis to support patient care
• Process, label, and handle specimens following strict quality and safety protocols
• Maintain quality control, run calibrations, and troubleshoot instrumentation issues
• Document and report results promptly using the Cerner charting system
• Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams in an acute care environment to ensure appropriate testing and results interpretation
• Adhere to infection control and safety standards to protect patients and staff
• Contribute to unit workflows and assist with orientation of new staff when needed

Qualifications

• Active state Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) licensure - license required to submit
• BLS certification required
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably in acute care settings
• Familiarity with Cerner or similar electronic charting systems
• Ability to work night shifts Wednesday through Saturday and meet a 40-hour workweek

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and instrumentation
• Experience with quality assurance, calibration, and proficiency testing
• Strong specimen handling and processing skills
• Comfortable working in an acute care hospital laboratory
• Good communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with clinical staff
• Competent documentation skills within Cerner or comparable LIS/EHR systems
