Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; days (EOW coverage), schedule released 4 weeks in advance; weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week period; standby/call possible—RN must be notified at least 1.5 hours before shift and able to report within 1 hour.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to observation/telemetry patients, maintaining safety and clinical excellence
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias—act decisively and escalate care when needed
- Administer and titrate drips safely (common drips include Diltiazem, Heparin, Amiodarone) following protocols
- Perform and document nursing assessments, interventions and patient education in Cerner
- Maintain sterile technique during Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes (SIMs Lab competency required)
- Manage patient assignments (typical ratios 1:4–1:5) with strong time management; step into charge duties when needed
- Collaborate with RT, pharmacy and SWAT IV team to coordinate care for complex patients
- Participate in unit orientation and ongoing education (lifts, restraints, wound care) to meet facility expectations
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (eligible to submit); open to waiting for license to submit as noted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (telemetry/MedSurg/Observation strongly preferred)
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Proven competency in dysrhythmia/ECG interpretation — must pass dysrhythmia exam (80% passing score within 2 attempts)
- Successful completion of SIMs Lab for Foley insertion and central line dressing changes (pass/fail)
- Comfort with titration of drips and reading cardiac strips
- Weekend availability per unit requirement
Education
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills, including strip reading and dysrhythmia recognition
- Experience with Cerner charting system
- Skill in IV starts and working with an IV SWAT team for difficult sticks
- Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP/High Flow devices as managed by RT
- Competence in wound care, lifts, restraints and maintaining sterile field
- Ability to triage, prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced observation unit
- Effective communication and teamwork, including floating to nearby campuses when needed
- Titration of drips (Diltiazem, Heparin, Amiodarone) with adherence to policy
