Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity cardiac and cardiothoracic critical care for a 10-bed SICU/CVICU unit
• Manage ventilators and advanced airway support (Draeger, Hamilton G5, Galileo, LVT transport vent) with precision
• Recover fresh hearts directly from the OR and provide immediate post-operative care (must have recent OR recovery experience)
• Monitor complex hemodynamics including Swan-Ganz, IABP, Impella management and manual hemodialysis support as needed
• Perform close telemetry and central monitoring via Phillips central monitors, ensuring timely interventions
• Collaborate with intensivists, RT, pharmacy and support staff to deliver safe, patient-centered care
• Adapt quickly to changing assignments and float as needed while maintaining high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit) and ability to meet facility licensure requirements
• Minimum 3 years of ICU nursing experience (Cardiac/CVICU and MedSurg ICU experience strongly preferred)
• Cerner EMR experience required (MyJourney modules must be completed prior to arrival)
• Recent experience (within the past 6 months) recovering fresh hearts directly from the OR — this is mandatory
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
• CCRN preferred
• Comfort with 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios in a very high-acuity environment
• Willingness to work nights, every-other-weekend and participate in holiday rotation

Education

• BSN not required (facility indicates BSN required: No)
• Completion of unit-specific orientation (1 shift with preceptor) prior to independent practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong competence in critical care nursing and post-operative cardiac recovery
• Advanced ventilator management and troubleshooting (Draeger, Hamilton G5, Galileo, LVT)
• Invasive hemodynamic monitoring and device knowledge: Swan-Ganz, IABP, Impella, TAVR familiarity
• Telemetry interpretation and central monitoring (Phillips systems)
• Skilled in caring for STEMI, AAA, therapeutic hypothermia, sepsis and complex MedSurg ICU patients
• Ability to prioritize, communicate clearly and act decisively in a fast-paced ICU setting
• Familiarity with Omnicell pharmacy workflows and working with 24/7 RT and pharmacy teams
