Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a 24-bed PCU/stepdown unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and remote monitor alerts; collaborate with monitor techs and RNs for approvals
• Safely titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips (Amiodarone, Diltiazem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Lasix)
• Manage respiratory support including CPAP, BiPAP and High Flow Oxygen
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, techs and support staff to coordinate acute care
• Float to other Region I facilities as needed and support charge nurse/house supervisor processes when assigned
• Participate in unit orientation and support a culture of safety and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit license; willingness to wait is accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with PCU / stepdown experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac drip titration
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and every-other-weekend scheduling
• Epic (electronic charting) experience preferred
• Ability to float within Region I facilities and adapt to varied unit workflows

Education

• Active RN license required; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• PCU and stepdown patient assessment and management
• Telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
• Cardiac drip titration and vasoactive medication management
• Acute care nursing and common PCU diagnoses (pneumonia, ARDS, post-cath care, HTN urgency, ETOH withdrawal)
• Respiratory support: CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow Oxygen
• Remote monitor workflows and RN approval processes
• Charge/lead responsibilities and effective team communication
• Proficient charting in EPIC and accurate clinical documentation
