Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field and surgical instruments for orthopedic procedures
- Anticipate surgeon needs and deliver instruments and supplies promptly during cases
- Perform instrument counts, assist with turnovers, and ensure accurate OR documentation
- Follow strict aseptic technique and infection control practices to protect patients
- Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia to ensure smooth, safe operations
- Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to call-backs within the required timeframe
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
- Proven orthopedic operating room experience is required
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced OR environment and participating in call rotation
- Ability to work full-time (36 hours/week) as four 9-hour day shifts between 6:45 AM and 4:15 PM
- Must be able to return to the facility within 45 minutes when called
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic instruments, implants, and procedure workflows
- Expertise in sterile technique and operating room protocols
- Efficient surgical setup and turnovers to maintain OR productivity
- Clear communication and teamwork skills in high-stakes situations
- Attention to detail for counts, documentation, and patient safety
