Certified Nursing Assistant - Long Term Care
Location: Wausau, WI
Shift Type: Day shift (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM), 8-hour shifts, 40 hours/week, every other weekend and every other holiday required
Candidate Pay Rate: $32 - $32.9 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care, assisting residents with ADLs like bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility
- Respond promptly to call lights and urgent resident needs with empathy and professionalism
- Follow individualized care plans to support residents’ goals, preferences, safety and dignity
- Assist with ambulation, transfers and positioning using proper techniques and mechanical lifts when needed
- Support restorative and range-of-motion exercises as assigned to promote resident mobility
- Observe and report changes in physical, emotional or cognitive status to the Licensed Nurse
- Document care accurately and timely in the electronic charting system before the end of shift
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized environment, including stocking supplies and assisting with laundry
- Follow infection control protocols and use PPE appropriately to protect residents and staff
- Participate in onboarding and training of new staff and contribute to a positive unit culture
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry (required)
- Active BLS certification at time of submission (required)
- 2+ years of CNA experience (preferred/required per posting)
- Ability to safely lift and support 50+ lbs and assist with transfers
- Comfortable working in all units including long term care, rehab, dementia care, and ventilator unit
- Computer literacy, including competency with electronic medical records and documentation
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong resident-centered care and communication skills — connecting with residents and families
- Experience with ambulation, transfers, gait belts, sit-to-stand and full-body lifts
- Familiarity with restorative care, ADL documentation, intake/output charting and range-of-motion exercises
- Knowledge of infection control practices, PPE use, and transmission-based precautions
- Ability to recognize and report clinical changes and safety hazards promptly
- Comfort working with dementia care needs and end-of-life/hospice support
- Basic troubleshooting and reporting for equipment concerns and safety issues
