Physician - Neonatology
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Contract Type: Perm
Shift Type: Variable schedule — approximately 10 24-hour shifts per month. 24-hour shifts are taken out-of-house; call is taken from home for flexibility. Coverage across two Level III NICUs (Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City and Norman Regional Hospital). Start/end times vary with schedule.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality neonatal care across two Level III NICUs, managing critically ill newborns with compassion and expertise
- Perform clinical assessments, stabilize neonates, and lead advanced respiratory care including HFOV and jet ventilator management
- Work closely with MFM and pediatric subspecialists to coordinate complex perinatal and neonatal care plans
- Supervise, mentor and collaborate with neonatal nurse practitioners (NNPs) and multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in 24-hour coverage rotations and ensure safe, seamless handoffs and continuity of care
- Contribute to a collegial private-practice environment by sharing best practices and supporting colleagues
- Support family-centered care and communicate effectively with parents and care teams during high-stress situations
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Neonatology
- MD or DO with completed Neonatology fellowship
- Active or eligible medical license for Oklahoma (state licensure required prior to practice)
- Comfort and experience with Level III NICU care, including HFOV and jet ventilators
- Willingness to reside within the immediate local area (local residency required)
- Not accepting locum or visa candidates; new fellows and recent graduates are encouraged to apply
Education
- MD or DO degree
- Completion of an accredited Neonatology fellowship
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Neonatology
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in NICU/neonatology clinical care and neonatal resuscitation workflows
- Familiarity with advanced ventilator modalities such as HFOV and jet ventilation
- Experience providing coverage across multiple NICU sites and coordinating transfers/consults
- Strong teamwork and communication skills for working with MFM, subspecialists and NNPs
- Ability to supervise and mentor advanced practice providers and foster a collaborative environment
- Comfort with shift-based critical care and making timely, evidence-based decisions
