Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and grooming with dignity and respect
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to older adults and promote independence
- Help with safe transfers and mobility support, using proper body mechanics
- Observe and report changes in residents condition to nursing staff promptly
- Take and record basic vitals and document care activities accurately
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Valid GNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working with geriatric populations and assisting with ADLs
- Reliable, compassionate, and a strong team player
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate clearly with clinical staff
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA certification or state equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Basic vital signs measurement and documentation
- Infection control and standard precautions
- Clear communication and teamwork with nursing staff and residents
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Compassion, patience, and strong observational skills
