Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders to create individualized care plans
- Develop and implement evidence-based therapy plans that target functional communication goals
- Document progress, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in the facility’s EHR clearly and promptly
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on strategies to support communication and swallowing safety at home
- Provide timely clinical recommendations and participate in care planning meetings
Qualifications
- Licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) — current state license or eligibility to obtain one
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or active pursuit of certification
- Clinical experience in adult/rehab settings (experience levels considered — discuss with recruiter)
- Strong documentation skills and comfort using electronic health record systems
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
- ASHA CCC-SLP (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in standardized and informal assessment techniques for communication and swallowing
- Expertise in treatment planning, goal writing, and progress measurement
- Knowledge of dysphagia management and safe swallowing strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with patients, families, and care teams
- Familiarity with regulatory and documentation standards in clinical settings
