Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Type and Crossmatch testing accurately and efficiently to support safe transfusions
• Conduct complex antibody identification panels and antigen testing for challenging cases
• Run and interpret Direct Antiglobulin Tests (DAT) and fetal screens with attention to detail
• Complete cord blood workups and document findings according to protocol
• Investigate and document transfusion reactions, collaborating with clinical teams to ensure patient safety
• Maintain clear, timely records and communicate results to physicians and nursing staff
• Support quality assurance activities and adhere to laboratory safety and regulatory standards
• Contribute to a high-volume workflow while preserving accuracy and patient-centered focus

Qualifications

• MT or MLT certification (ASCP or equivalent) — MT/MLT credential required
• Demonstrated experience with blood bank/transfusion testing: Type & Crossmatch, antibody identification, DAT, fetal screens, cord blood workups, and transfusion reaction investigations
• Comfort working an afternoon shift with rotating weekend and holiday coverage
• Strong attention to detail, good documentation skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Valid state licensure if applicable/required by Ohio

Education

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field (or equivalent training)
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in blood bank techniques and transfusion medicine workflows
• Ability to interpret complex antibody panels and antigen typing results
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and accurate result entry
• Solid understanding of quality control, specimen handling, and lab safety procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills when interacting with clinical staff
• Time management skills to handle high-volume testing while maintaining accuracy
