Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, preserving dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) with kindness and respect
• Take and record vital signs accurately, reporting changes to the nursing team promptly
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Maintain clear, timely documentation of resident care and observations
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to promote excellent care
• Contribute to a positive environment by assisting with meal service, social engagement, and comfort measures

Qualifications

• GNA certification required (Geriatric Nursing Assistant credential)
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings/immunizations
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident-centered practices
• Ability to take and document vital signs and observe clinical changes
• Familiarity with ADLs, safe transfer techniques, and mobility assistance
• Basic infection prevention and safety knowledge
• Good teamwork, time management, and documentation skills
• Comfortable interacting with older adults and supporting emotional needs
