Roles & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care using the Clinical Practice Model (CPM)
• Perform thorough patient assessments and deliver patient-centered care that prioritizes safety and positive outcomes
• Communicate clearly and effectively using SBAR and other structured communication tools with patients, families, and team members
• Implement clinical pathways and patient education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Demonstrate leadership by acting as a clinical resource, mentoring colleagues, and supporting a positive work environment
• Manage time and priorities efficiently to contribute to team productivity and excellent patient flow
• Complete required documentation, skills checklists, and competency-based objectives in a timely manner

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (LARA and Nursys verification recommended)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2+ years medical-surgical (MS) RN experience — required
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application (RN specialties)
• Travel nursing experience preferred but not required
• Willingness to comply with facility attendance policy and onsite requirements
• Strong interpersonal, time-management, and interdisciplinary communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and individualized care planning
• Medical-surgical nursing for general, vascular, bariatric, and plastic surgery patients
• Stroke care and trauma basics appropriate for a hospital stroke unit
• Use of clinical pathways and patient education techniques
• SBAR and interdisciplinary communication best practices
• Time management in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Familiarity with shared governance and unit-based council processes
