Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on occupational therapy services under the direction of the supervising OT to help patients regain independence
• Implement individualized treatment plans that focus on activities of daily living, adaptive techniques, and meaningful functional goals
• Document patient progress clearly and timely in the medical record to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive equipment, and safety strategies to promote long-term success
• Adapt therapeutic activities and recommend assistive devices to meet each patient’s unique needs

Qualifications

• Current COTA certification (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) required
• Active state occupational therapy assistant licensure or eligibility (follow NJ state requirements)
• Experience in inpatient rehabilitation, post-acute care, or similar settings is highly valued
• Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or able to obtain prior to start

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related allied health field required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, and adaptive equipment recommendations
• Solid knowledge of documentation best practices and outcome tracking
• Ability to assess functional status and implement evidence-based interventions
• Strong communication and patient education skills for working with diverse populations
• Comfortable with dynamic caseloads and prioritizing patient needs
