Shift Type: Day shifts (clinician's choice): 4x10 (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM) OR 5x8 (40 hrs/week; specific 8-hour start/end times not specified). Approximately 2 weekend days per month if a weekend day is not part of the regular schedule. Day shift

Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat adult inpatient rehabilitation patients with communication and swallowing disorders using evidence-based SLP approaches
- Perform bedside swallow evaluations and participate in FEES and Modified Barium Swallow studies as appropriate
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care, documenting assessments, treatment progress and discharge plans in Epic
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, OT, nursing, respiratory) to optimize patient outcomes after stroke, TBI, spinal cord injury and other neurologic or orthopedic conditions
- Provide patient and family education, training caregivers on compensatory strategies and safe diet modifications
- Lead or participate in in‑service training and contribute to functional maintenance programs
- Support safe management of tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients within SLP scope, including Passy Muir valve trials and suctioning protocols
Qualifications
- Alaska SLP license preferred (pending licenses accepted; strong preference for AK license in hand)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of SLP experience (first-timers accepted — we welcome new grads with the right skills!)
- Acute inpatient rehabilitation facility experience required; acute care experience preferred
- Experience with Epic charting preferred
- Comfort managing trach/vent patients, dysphagia protocols (FEES/MBS) and augmentative communication solutions
- Able to work some weekends (about 2 per month) and follow facility scheduling/ RTO requirements
Knowledge & Skills
- Dysphagia management, bedside swallow evaluation and compensatory strategies
- Conducting and interpreting FEES and Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS)
- Trachostomy and ventilator management, Passy Muir valve trials and suctioning
- Adult rehabilitation focus (stroke, TBI, spinal cord injury, neurodegenerative disease, orthopedic rehab)
- SLP documentation, assessment, POC development and SLP evaluation coding
- Augmentative & alternative communication (communication boards, AAC devices)
- Frazier Free Water Protocol, hyolaryngeal exercises and diet modification expertise
- Familiarity with evaluation tools such as ALPS, WAB, BAE and BIMS (where relevant)
- Patient/family education, in-service training and interdisciplinary collaboration
