Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing occupational therapy treatment plans created by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Provide targeted therapy focused on activities of daily living (ADLs), functional mobility, coordination, and self-care
- Lead therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation activities with empathy and encouragement
- Monitor resident progress and communicate timely updates to the supervising therapist
- Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive techniques, safety, and independence strategies
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of therapy services
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active California Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license (required)
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Prior experience in SNF, rehabilitation, or geriatric care preferred
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach to care
- Comfort working effectively in a collaborative healthcare environment under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of ADL training and functional rehabilitation techniques
- Strong patient engagement and motivational skills
- Effective documentation and clinical record-keeping
- Skills in functional mobility, coordination, and self-care interventions
- Ability to collaborate with nursing and rehab teams for coordinated care
