Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor and document vital signs, intake/output, and behavioral changes
- Follow individualized care plans and report any changes to the nursing team
- Support safe mobility and transfer techniques, using proper body mechanics
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and team members
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent — required or in-state equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Previous experience in geriatric care or long-term care is a plus, but compassionate newcomers are welcome
- Ability to pass facility onboarding checks and background screening
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-centered support
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, documenting observations, following care plans
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
