Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients and deliver primary nursing care on a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit and step-down ICU areas
• Monitor patients continuously using telemetry and perform telemetry strip reading to identify changes
• Perform point-of-care testing such as fingerstick blood sugar and respond to results promptly
• Administer medications safely using Pyxis and document care in Meditech charting systems
• Operate and manage respiratory support like BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring equipment
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient-focused care plans
• Float to other acute units as needed, providing dependable support to Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER teams
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and safe transitions

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by assignment start (applicants without it must apply upon acceptance)
• At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
• Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
• ACLS preferred, current PALS preferred, NIHSS preferred
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring, telemetry strip interpretation, and primary nursing responsibilities
• Able and willing to float to other acute care units as needed

• Telemetry monitoring and telemetry strip reading
• Progressive Care and step-down ICU workflows
• Meditech electronic charting proficiency
• Medication administration workflow using Pyxis
• Familiarity with BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring equipment
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient communication skills
• Basic point-of-care testing such as fingerstick glucose checks
