Candidate Pay Rate: $67.50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to psychiatric patients using the nursing process
- Develop, implement, and periodically update individualized interdisciplinary plans of care
- Perform thorough patient assessments and continuously evaluate patient outcomes
- Manage psychiatric emergencies and coordinate medical care for patients when needed
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify resources and discharge planning
- Document patient care accurately and communicate changes clearly to the team
- Support a therapeutic environment for patients ages 5 and up with psychiatric needs
- Act as a dependable team member, stepping in to provide coverage and maintain continuity of care
Qualifications
- Valid State of Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Minimum 1 year of previous experience in mental health or psychiatric nursing
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to start
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training current prior to start
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to manage stress effectively and make sound decisions under pressure
- Team-player mindset with flexibility to provide coverage 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
- Previous experience in emergency psychiatric nursing strongly preferred
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent 2-year nursing degree required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Experience developing and updating individualized care plans
- Competence in interdisciplinary care coordination and patient outcome evaluation
- Proficient in patient assessment for psychiatric and co-occurring medical needs
- Strong crisis management and de-escalation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, and handoff practices
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize care in emergency settings
- Flexibility and availability to support a 24/7 crisis psychiatric environment
