Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate residents using evidence-based assessment tools to identify communication and swallowing needs
- Design individualized treatment plans that improve quality of life and function
- Implement therapy sessions working collaboratively with PTs, OTs, nurses, and care teams
- Provide dysphagia management and safe-swallowing strategies where appropriate
- Document progress in the EMR (Nethealth and PCC) with clear, timely notes
- Mentor and support PRN or newer therapists to build a strong clinical team
- Communicate effectively with families and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Participate in unit meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Valid California license as a Speech-Language Pathologist (required)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
- Experience or interest in Skilled Nursing Facility practice, memory care, and sub-acute care
- Comfort using or willingness to learn Nethealth and PCC EMR systems
- Strong teamwork and mentoring skills — ready to work side-by-side with other SLPs, PTs, and OTs
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent ASHA-accredited program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders
- Knowledge of dysphagia management and safe-feeding strategies
- Experience in skilled nursing workflows and documentation standards
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to care plans
- Proficiency or willingness to learn Nethealth and PCC EMR systems
- Comfort working in memory care and sub-acute rehabilitation settings
