Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents using evidence-based assessment tools to identify communication and swallowing needs
• Design individualized treatment plans that improve quality of life and function
• Implement therapy sessions working collaboratively with PTs, OTs, nurses, and care teams
• Provide dysphagia management and safe-swallowing strategies where appropriate
• Document progress in the EMR (Nethealth and PCC) with clear, timely notes
• Mentor and support PRN or newer therapists to build a strong clinical team
• Communicate effectively with families and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Participate in unit meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Valid California license as a Speech-Language Pathologist (required)
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
• Experience or interest in Skilled Nursing Facility practice, memory care, and sub-acute care
• Comfort using or willingness to learn Nethealth and PCC EMR systems
• Strong teamwork and mentoring skills — ready to work side-by-side with other SLPs, PTs, and OTs
• Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent ASHA-accredited program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders
• Knowledge of dysphagia management and safe-feeding strategies
• Experience in skilled nursing workflows and documentation standards
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to care plans
• Proficiency or willingness to learn Nethealth and PCC EMR systems
• Comfort working in memory care and sub-acute rehabilitation settings
