Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field for complex cardiovascular operating room procedures
• Assist surgeons and the CVOR team during open and endovascular cases with precision and confidence
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot specialized CVOR and hybrid cath lab instruments and supplies
• Anticipate surgical team needs and pass instruments efficiently to help optimize case flow
• Adhere to strict infection control and patient safety protocols for every procedure
• Accurately document case details, counts, and instrumentation in the patient record
• Participate in the rotating call schedule and respond professionally when called in
• Collaborate with perioperative staff to support continuous quality improvement

Qualifications

• Active Colorado Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) license through DORA — REQUIRED
• Certification in Surgical Technology from NBSTSA, AST, or NCCT
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Graduated from an accredited scrub technologist program
• Demonstrated CVOR experience; hybrid cath lab experience is a strong plus
• Comfortable working 4 x 10-hour day shifts and participating in rotating on-call coverage
• Professional, communicative, and able to work collaboratively in high-acuity settings

Education

• Graduate of an accredited scrub technologist program
• Certification in Surgical Technology (NBSTSA, AST, or NCCT) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of cardiovascular OR procedures and sterile technique
• Familiarity with hybrid cath lab workflows and cardiovascular instrumentation
• Strong surgical instrumentation handling and count management
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-pressure clinical environments
• Accurate perioperative documentation and familiarity with electronic health records
• Situational awareness and commitment to patient safety and infection prevention
