Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts including day/evening/night coverage. Typical day/evening starts vary between 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM (12-hour shifts, e.g., 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM or 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM). Weekday night call coverage: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (8-hour). Weekend rotations include 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, or 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM. Schedule includes weekdays and weekends with call required; call frequency approximately 3-4 times per 4-week schedule. Rotating

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room for trauma and a broad range of surgical specialties
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field, instrumentation, and equipment for procedures
- Actively participate in trauma and high-acuity cases, ensuring patient safety and timely interventions
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
- Accurately document patient assessments and care in the Cerner charting system
- Respond to call assignments and transition smoothly between day, evening, and night responsibilities
- Coach and support patients and families through the surgical experience with clear communication and compassion
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California required
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (as listed in job posting)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- COVID-19 vaccination required
- Operating Room experience preferred; familiarity with trauma, orthopedics, vascular, neuro, ENT, thoracic, and general surgery cases
- Comfortable with call responsibilities and rotating weekend coverage
- Experience with Cerner or similar electronic health record systems is a plus
Education
- Active RN license in California (BSN not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong perioperative and acute care skills with OR-specific knowledge
- Proficiency in sterile technique, instrument handling, and surgical workflows
- Ability to triage and respond effectively during trauma and high-acuity events
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and time-management skills
- Familiarity with Cerner charting and documentation best practices
- Adaptability to varied shift start times and rotating schedules
