Shift Type: 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (NOC); travelers will be scheduled with limited block scheduling; every other weekend required; 2-3 holidays required between Thanksgiving and New Years; 36 hours per week guaranteed

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor MedSurg/Neuro patients, providing compassionate, evidence-based care
- Administer medications and titrate drips such as heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine safely and accurately
- Manage PCA pumps and common set-rate drips while ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Perform admissions, discharges and thorough documentation in EPIC to keep the team informed
- Maintain telemetry awareness and collaborate with Tele/Monitor Techs to interpret patient rhythm trends
- Prioritize hourly rounding, timely responses, and care coordination to keep patient flow moving
- Work with nursing assistants and charge nurses to support a safe, efficient unit environment
- Provide culturally competent patient education and support for diverse patient populations
Qualifications
- Active RN license valid for practice in Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg/Telemetry nursing experience
- BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certification required before start
- Ability to titrate drips (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine) and manage PCA pumps confidently
- Comfortable with EPIC charting and basic telemetry strip awareness
- Driver's license required at submittal
- Clear background and clean license (no license or background hits)
- Willingness to pass an open-book orientation skills exam with a 90% score (required)
- Must comply with facility policies such as prohibition of artificial nails in patient care areas
- Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity and must meet the 50-mile radius rule
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN is not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong MedSurg and neuro patient assessment skills
- Telemetry monitoring awareness and rhythm recognition
- Medication administration and IV drip titration competency
- PCA pump management and familiarity with titratable drips
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record documentation
- Hourly rounding, prioritization, and patient flow management
- Ability to operate or assist with mechanical lifts
- Cultural competency working with Spanish, Karen, and Burmese speaking patients
