Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to neonates in the NICU
• Perform skilled assessments and monitor vital signs, interpreting changes and escalating appropriately
• Administer medications and IV therapy safely and document care accurately in the medical record
• Assist with neonatal resuscitation and stabilization in collaboration with the team
• Deliver family-centered education, support and clear communication to parents and caregivers
• Participate in unit-specific competency exams, specialty skills checklists and quality initiatives
• Maintain strict infection control, screening and immunization compliance per facility requirements

Qualifications

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification (required)
• DCI/BVP certification listed as required in order documentation
• Completion of Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist and Prime Specialty Exam (per order)
• Compliance with facility health requirements (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, TB testing, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza and drug screening)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neonatal assessment and monitoring skills
• Comfort with NICU equipment and specialty care (incubators, monitors, basic ventilator support/assists)
• Ability to perform neonatal resuscitation and follow NRP protocols
• Excellent communication and family education skills
• Accurate documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Teamwork, adaptability, and a calm approach in high-acuity situations
