Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' functional abilities and develop personalized occupational therapy plans
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve daily living skills
- Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs, physicians, and caregivers to optimize patient outcomes
- Document patient progress, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in the medical record
- Train patients and family members on adaptive techniques and use of assistive devices
- Recommend adaptive equipment, splints, and environmental modifications to enhance independence
- Monitor and modify treatment plans based on patient response and evolving goals
Qualifications
- Current OTR or OTR/L credential (or eligible) required
- Active California occupational therapy license or ability to obtain state licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; other facility-required certifications welcomed
- Experience working in inpatient rehab or skilled nursing preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and a collaborative attitude
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (BS, entry-level MS, or OTD)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL/IADL assessment and intervention
- Knowledge of therapeutic exercise, adaptive equipment, and splinting techniques
- Experience with goal-driven treatment planning and measurable outcomes
- Comfortable using electronic health records for documentation
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
- Ability to educate patients and caregivers in a compassionate, practical way
