Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality general dental care including exams, restorative work, extractions, and preventive services
- Develop patient-centered treatment plans and communicate options clearly to patients and the care team
- Manage dental emergencies and triage urgent needs efficiently
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with facility and regulatory requirements
- Uphold strict infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff
- Collaborate with correctional health staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
- Contribute to a positive patient experience through respectful, trauma-informed care
Qualifications
- DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school
- Active California dental license (required) or ability to obtain prior to start
- BLS/CPR certification (current)
- Experience providing general dentistry; correctional or public health dental experience is a plus
- Ability to pass facility security/background checks and any required health screenings
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working in a correctional healthcare environment
Education
- DDS or DMD (required)
- Active California Dental License (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven skills in restorative dentistry, extractions, and preventive care
- Familiarity with dental radiography and interpretation
- Comfortable using electronic medical/dental records and documenting treatment plans
- Knowledge of infection control standards and OSHA/HIPAA requirements
- Strong patient communication and case management capabilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary care team
