Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care across ICU, MedSurg Tele and PCU as part of a float pool
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and rapidly respond to dysrhythmias to keep patients safe
- Titrate and manage critical drips (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Insulin) according to orders and unit protocols
- Care for post-procedural cardiac patients (post-cath, post-MI, CABG day 3–4) with skill and compassion
- Collaborate with monitor techs, physicians, respiratory therapists and nursing aides to coordinate care
- Adapt quickly to changing assignments across two campuses and hold patients in ED when required
- Participate in unit orientation and follow established documentation standards in Cerner
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to practice in Arizona)
- Minimum 1 year ICU experience required; 2 years of nursing experience preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- Comfortable and experienced with telemetry/PCU care and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Proven ability to titrate drips and manage common critical care infusions
- Able to pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract start
- Able to work night shifts, rotate between units/campuses, and meet every-other-weekend and holiday rotation requirements
- Must meet radius/employment rule: no FT/PT/PRN with CommonSpirit (including CHI/Dignity) facilities within the past year
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN not required but accepted.
- Completion of hospital-specific orientation (8-hour general orientation + unit-specific 12-hour shifts)
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
- Drip titration and IV infusion management
- Telemetry monitoring and strip reading
- Post-op cardiac and cath lab patient care (groin site management, post-MI, CABG recovery)
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
- Respiratory support knowledge: CPAP, BiPAP and heated high-flow therapies
- Ability to function in a float pool across ICU, MedSurg Tele and PCU with flexible assignment acceptance
- Strong communication skills for quick, clear notifications (text-based shift assignments) and interprofessional teamwork
