Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, individualized nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients before and after surgery
• Assess patient conditions and promptly respond to changes in status
• Administer medications and monitor vital signs with precision and compassion
• Initiate the computerized Plan of Care on admission and document care clearly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes
• Communicate therapeutically and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
• Float to other departments as needed and perform general nursing duties under supervision
• Participate in required education and quality programs to support patient safety and hospital standards

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the State of Oregon (required)
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
• BSN or MSN preferred
• Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) preferred
• Previous medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
• CRASE training preferred; CRASE will be required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
• Ability to work independently, make evidence-based decisions, and collaborate as part of a team

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (required)
• BSN or MSN (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and age-specific care across adult populations
• Medication administration and vigilant vital signs monitoring
• Initiation and management of Plans of Care in electronic systems
• Post-operative care and response to changing patient conditions
• Therapeutic communication and strong interpersonal skills
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and professional standards
• Comfort with floating to other departments and interdisciplinary collaboration
