Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM and Night 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM; schedule includes every-other weekend and holiday rotation; specific days assigned by unit manager (days/nights rotating)
Hours per Week: 48
Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality critical care to adult and adolescent patients in a busy tertiary Med-Surg ICU
- Manage ventilators and troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to invasive ventilation
- Safely titrate drips and vasoactive medications such as vasopressors, paralytics, sedatives, and antiarrhythmics
- Interpret telemetry and Draeger centralized monitoring to detect and respond to cardiac changes
- Respond to codes and rapid response situations as an active team member and support charge nurse duties
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, RTs, and trainees to optimize patient outcomes
- Deliver compassionate patient and family education during high-acuity moments
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to practice in Nebraska)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU or critical care nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required
- Valid driver’s license at time of submittal (radius rule applies)
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, every-other weekend, and participate in holiday rotation
- Willingness to complete unit orientation and pass the open-book skills exam (90% required)
- Able to float to other inpatient units (excluding Maternity/NICU) when needed
- Must comply with unit policies (including fingernail/artificial nail policy for patient care areas)
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN acceptable)
- BSN not required for this role
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong ventilator management and troubleshooting skills
- Comfort with vasoactive drip titration and advanced medication management
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Experience with EPIC charting and centralized monitoring systems (Draeger)
- Familiarity with CRRT, EV-1000 hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring, and Swans (preferred or trainable)
- Ability to care for neuro, respiratory failure, ARDS, sepsis, cardiogenic shock, post-op, and oncology patients
- Critical thinking, strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work in a high-volume environment
- Competence in trauma care, rapid transfusion equipment, and hypothermia protocols is a plus
