Shift Type: Monday-Friday, Day shifts with variable start times (6:45 AM, 9:00 AM or 10:30 AM) — 8-hour day shifts; Assigned weeknight call M-F 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; Weekend call 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM (24-hour); Holiday 24-hour call. Shift type: Day shifts with assigned nights/weekends/rotating call coverage (must respond within 30 minutes).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate in the operating room to ensure patient safety, sterile technique, and smooth case flow
• Support a high-volume OR (4 rooms Main, 4 OPSC) handling 10–20 cases per day across specialties
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, techs and perioperative staff to deliver exceptional care
• Respond to assigned call within the 30-minute response window to support urgent cases
• Float between Main OR and OPSC as needed to meet unit needs and maintain continuity of care
• Maintain required documentation in Cerner Surginet and complete unit-specific orientation
• Adhere to radiation safety procedures and wear/maintain a radiation badge when required
• Step into charge nurse or house supervisor duties when assigned, supporting staffing and operations

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for California practice
• Minimum 2 years acute care Operating Room experience (required)
• Required: Orthopedics and Bariatrics OR experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (RNs must hold these)
• Radiation badge required (or willingness to obtain and wear one)
• Must be able to circulate (this is a circulating RN role)
• Completed at least one travel assignment (new requirement for this opening)
• Ability to work call (weeknights, weekends, holidays) and float between Main and OPSC
• Cerner Surginet or similar OR charting experience preferred

Education

• Active RN license (California) required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of OR sterile technique, infection control and perioperative safety
• Familiarity with robotics, orthopedics, bariatrics, general, plastics, urology, GYN, podiatry and ophthalmology cases
• Comfortable circulating duties and supporting multiple OR rooms
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and communicate clearly under pressure
• Experience with Cerner Surginet charting and perioperative documentation
• Charge nurse or house supervision experience a plus
• Team-oriented mindset with adaptability for schedule and case changes
