Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Night 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; typically a 36-hour week (guaranteed), every other weekend, every 3rd holiday; shift type: rotating (day/night)

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality clinical care for adult and geriatric PCU patients, including cardiac and nephrology cases
- Titrate and manage drips such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications according to protocol
- Monitor and interpret continuous EEG data and respond to changes in patient status
- Document accurately and timely in EPIC to ensure clear care communication
- Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care technicians, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Use critical thinking to prioritize care, troubleshoot issues, and support rapid clinical decision-making
- Participate in onboarding and pass required competency checks to maintain unit standards
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (Nebraska)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (PCU/stepdown, cardiac, stroke or similar preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
- Demonstrated experience with EPIC charting
- Comfortable titrating drips and managing complex cardiac/neuro patients
- Driver's license required at submittal (used for radius determination)
- Ability to pass an open-book orientation skills exam with a 90% score
- Must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity) and must meet the 50-mile radius rule
Education
- Active RN license required; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of PCU/stepdown nursing practices and 12-hour shift workflows
- Cardiac care, nephrology, stroke care fundamentals and common diagnoses
- Experience with titration of drips and familiarity with Cardizem, beta blockers, seizure meds
- Continuous EEG monitoring interpretation basics and response protocols
- Proficient use of EPIC for charting and documentation
- Excellent communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
