Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care including baths, grooming, and oral hygiene
• Assist patients with toileting, dressing, feeding, and other activities of daily living
• Measure and accurately record intake/output, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height and weight
• Collect stool, urine and sputum specimens for analysis and report findings promptly
• Position, lift and transfer patients safely using appropriate equipment and techniques
• Apply oxygen via nasal cannula, simple mask, or nebulizer mask under direction of licensed staff
• Document patient care and observations on hospital-approved flow sheets and report changes to the nurse
• Maintain infection control and a clean, safe environment for patients and staff
• Support patient engagement through recreational activities and assist with admissions, transfers and discharges as needed

Qualifications

• Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential (required)
• Comfortable working in hospital, clinic, long-term care and occasional home care settings
• Skilled in ADLs, vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, documentation and patient transfers
• Able to apply oxygen and perform routine treatment procedures under nurse direction
• Willingness to work rotating/evening shifts and weekends as needed
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle for certain assignments (valid driver’s license where required)
• Commitment to infection control procedures and patient confidentiality

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Vital signs monitoring and basic clinical observations
• Specimen collection (stool, urine, sputum)
• Documentation and charting on approved flow sheets
• Patient transfer, mobility assistance and safe lifting techniques
• Infection control and sterilization/autoclave practices
• Oxygen administration via nasal cannula, mask, and nebulizer (per direction)
• Ability to participate in in-service education and recreational patient activities
