Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for medical-surgical patients and step in to manage emergency patients when needed
• Assess, monitor and document patient status; communicate changes promptly to the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, RNs and interdisciplinary staff to create and implement effective care plans
• Perform timely triage and initial stabilization for ED patients when covering the emergency side
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with facility protocols
• Participate in competency testing and skills checklists to maintain specialty qualifications
• Support a positive patient experience through clear communication, education and advocacy

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (ability to verify license/certification required)
• Certifications required: BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS (must be current)
• Experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing and Emergency Nursing (comfortable floating between MS and ED)
• Willingness to work holiday rotations and every third weekend (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) as required
• Ability to complete facility-specific testing: Trinity Specialty Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical nursing knowledge and clinical judgment
• Emergency nursing skills for initial assessment, triage and stabilization
• Proficiency in ACLS, BLS and PALS protocols
• Familiarity with TNCC and NIHSS stroke assessment
• Comfort with competency-based skill verification and checklists
• Effective communication, teamwork and adaptability in a fast-paced setting
