Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
- Manage psychopharmacology and monitor medication effectiveness and side effects
- Collaborate closely with nursing, social work, and behavioral health teams to coordinate care
- Conduct crisis intervention and risk assessments with calm, evidence-based decision making
- Document assessments and treatment plans thoroughly and timely in the electronic health record
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to quality improvement efforts
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow facility policies for safety and compliance
Qualifications
- MD or DO with completed residency in Psychiatry
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Valid California medical license or ability to obtain prior to start
- DEA registration or ability to obtain
- Experience or comfort working in correctional/forensic settings preferred
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and facility-required screenings
Education
- MD or DO, Psychiatry residency completed
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric care
- Skilled in psychiatric assessment, risk evaluation, and crisis management
- Excellent documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Collaborative communicator who works well with multidisciplinary teams
- Culturally competent care and trauma-informed approaches
- Time management and workflow skills to handle a focused clinic schedule
