Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams across adult and pediatric patients in the Emergency Department and ICU
- Operate portable and cart-based ultrasound systems (GE, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite) and manage images in PACS
- Prepare patients and explain procedures with compassion, ensuring comfort and safety throughout exams
- Accurately document findings in the required charting system and maintain clear communication with the care team
- Assist with special procedures (e.g., lung biopsy support, intraoperative imaging) as needed
- Follow infection control and safety protocols while maintaining equipment and performing QC checks
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff to prioritize urgent imaging needs
- Contribute to a positive patient experience by delivering timely, respectful, and professional care
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of ultrasound technologist experience (as listed in the req)
- ARDMS certification preferred
- BLS certification required or obtained shortly after hire
- Proficiency with PACS and required charting systems
- Experience with portable ultrasound in Emergency Department and ICU settings
- Comfort working in a short-term acute care hospital and adapting to fast-paced clinical needs
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of general ultrasound and abdominal imaging including abdominal aorta, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, spleen
- Pediatric abdomen/pelvis imaging experience
- Hands-on experience with GE, Philips, Siemens and SonoSite equipment
- Familiarity with intraoperative imaging and lung biopsy assistance
- Comfortable using PACS and electronic charting systems for image management and documentation
- Ability to prioritize cases and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
