Registered Nurse - Stepdown/PCU

Shift Type: Night 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, typically 3 nights per week; rotating schedule with every other or every third weekend coverage; Night shift. Float and call may be required within the OSU organization.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor adult PCU/telemetry patients, using telemetry to interpret dysrhythmias and respond quickly
- Provide advanced respiratory support, including BiPAP, CPAP, and HFNC when indicated
- Administer and titrate IV insulin protocols and vasoactive/cardiac drips with precision and clinical judgment
- Manage central lines and PICCs, perform IV therapy, and safely administer blood products
- Provide post-procedure recovery care for kidney biopsy and paracentesis patients
- Chart accurately and efficiently in EPIC and manage medications with Pyxis
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
- Float within OSU units as needed and participate in call coverage to support unit needs
Qualifications
- Active Ohio RN license (required)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with strong Stepdown/PCU background
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac monitoring
- Comfortable with advanced respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC) and non-invasive airway management
- Skilled in IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, and vasoactive drip management
- Experience with central line and PICC management, blood product administration
- Transplant experience (renal, liver, pancreas) or high-acuity medical patient experience preferred
- Able to float to different units within the OSU organization and work scheduled weekends and call
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- EPIC charting proficiency and Pyxis medication system experience
- IV therapy, central line and PICC care, and blood product administration
- Titration of insulin and vasoactive/cardiac drips
- Advanced respiratory support: BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC
- Post-procedure recovery care (kidney biopsy, paracentesis)
- Feeding tube care, CBI, and pre/post hemodialysis management experience
- Experience caring for transplant patients and other high-acuity medical diagnoses
