Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients across inpatient, outpatient and rehab settings to develop individualized OT plans
• Provide goal-driven interventions for ortho, post-surgical, neuro and trauma populations
• Document patient care thoroughly in Cerner PowerChart and maintain accurate treatment records
• Collaborate with PTs, SLPs, nursing and rehab aides to deliver coordinated, high-quality care
• Supervise and mentor rehab aides and OTAs to maximize patient outcomes and unit efficiency
• Perform safe mobility training, ADL retraining and functional activity programs to restore independence
• Float to assigned areas when needed and adapt quickly to different clinical environments
• Participate in departmental orientation (including ~1.5 day floor-specific orientation) and ongoing training

Qualifications

• Passed NBCOT exam (NBCOT certification required)
• Current state Occupational Therapy license (ability to work in California required/preferred)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Minimum of 1 year clinical experience (posting notes 1+ year required; 2 years preferred)
• Travel therapy experience preferred; trauma/inpatient experience preferred
• Experience with inpatient and outpatient care, and ability to float between areas
• Comfortable using Cerner PowerChart or similar EMR for documentation

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient evaluation and development of individualized OT treatment plans
• Inpatient, outpatient and rehabilitation practices and workflow
• Familiarity with common diagnoses: ortho, post-surgical, neuro, trauma and med-surg populations
• Skilled documentation in Cerner PowerChart and accurate clinical charting
• Team-based care and interdisciplinary communication with PT and SLP colleagues
• Ability to supervise and coordinate with rehab aides, OTAs and support staff
• Understanding of safety, mobility training and ADL retraining best practices
