Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality general and focused ultrasound exams for adult and pediatric patients
- Operate portable and department-based ultrasound systems (GE, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite) and manage PACS imaging workflow
- Document findings accurately in the required charting system and ensure timely image transfer to PACS
- Collaborate with ED, ICU and other clinical teams to provide urgent imaging when needed
- Maintain equipment readiness and follow infection control and safety protocols
- Deliver compassionate patient care, explaining procedures and helping patients feel comfortable
- Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities to uphold imaging standards
Qualifications
- 1 year of ultrasound/sonography experience (minimum) working in clinical settings
- ARDMS certification preferred
- BLS required or willing to obtain
- Proficiency with PACS and electronic charting systems (charting system required)
- Experience with portable ultrasound and adult/pediatric imaging, especially in ED and ICU settings
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
Education
- Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent clinical training
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in general ultrasound examinations including abdominal, biliary, liver, gallbladder and pediatric abdomen/pelvis
- Experience with vascular and interventional support such as abdominal aorta and lung biopsy imaging
- Comfortable using GE, Philips, Siemens and SonoSite ultrasound platforms
- Skilled with PACS image management and electronic charting
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments like the Emergency Department and ICU
