Shift Type: Night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour nights; rotating schedule with weekend coverage (3 shifts in a 4-week period / 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks depending on rotation) and holiday rotation

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor neuro patients continuously using telemetry and trend EEGs — detect subtle changes and escalate concerns promptly.
- Provide specialized seizure and epilepsy monitoring care in a 48-bed Neuro Acute unit, including management of 24–48 hour Trend EEGs.
- Perform skilled interventions such as Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes while maintaining strict sterile technique.
- Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias and cardiopulmonary changes; follow ACLS protocols when indicated.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (RT, pharmacy, hospitalists/intensivists, SWAT IV team) to deliver coordinated, high-quality care.
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to maintain continuity of care and clear records.
- Participate in unit-specific orientation (including SIMs Lab) and complete mandatory competency validations.
- Support patient/family education and bedside care that promotes recovery and safety for neuro patients.
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state authorization to practice required).
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience; Level I Trauma experience required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required prior to start.
- MedSurg/Telemetry certification preferred; BSN preferred (not required).
- Proven competency in dysrhythmia recognition — candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam (two attempts allowed).
- Competence in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; successful completion of SIMs Lab skills is required.
- Cerner charting experience preferred.
- Willingness to follow facility appearance/fit-test policies (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testing) and to provide reliable personal transportation for travel assignments.
Education
- BSN preferred (ADN/Associate acceptable); active RN licensure required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
- Seizure/epilepsy monitoring and Trend EEG familiarity
- Critical thinking and advanced patient assessment for neuro patients
- Maintaining sterile field during procedures
- Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change skills
- IV/line placement familiarity and ability to collaborate with IV SWAT teams
- Vent/BiPAP familiarity and working with Respiratory Therapy
- Cranial nerve assessment and neuro-focused clinical skills
- Strong documentation skills in Cerner and clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
