Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, typically 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, every-other-week (EOW) schedule with approximately 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (nights: Fri/Sat); schedules posted about 3 weeks in advance, self-scheduling by seniority, shift trades available

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry strips accurately and promptly to keep patients safe
- Provide focused neuro and stroke care including assessment of TIA, stroke, seizure, and TBI patients
- Deliver high-quality bedside nursing on a busy 22-bed telemetry unit with 1:3-4 ratios
- Execute bedside shift report and contribute to excellent patient experience and HCAHPS outcomes
- Collaborate with monitor techs, RNs, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
- Follow protocols for set-rate drips and DKA pathways and assist with high-flow and noninvasive respiratory support
- Float to IMCU or Med/Surg as needed and support unit staffing needs professionally
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of practice (California) and eligibility to submit
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
- Ability to pass a dysrhythmia interpretation exam (GE Apex telemetry familiarity a plus)
- Minimum 2 years of true telemetry/neuro telemetry experience preferred, though first-time travelers may be considered
- Comfort with 12-hour night shifts and ability to work required weekends as scheduled
- Strong teamwork, self-motivation, and a patient-centered approach
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN not required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Unit-specific orientation: 1 shift on unit plus 12 orientation hours as provided
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven telemetry strip interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition skills
- Experience with Cerner charting system
- Familiarity with common drips and set-rate therapies including heparin, amiodarone, and cardizem
- Competence in stroke measures, NIHSS assessments, and TIA/stroke care pathways
- Experience with high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, and CPAP support
- Excellent bedside communication and commitment to bedside shift report and HCAHPS/core measures
