Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM (day) and 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM (night); schedule varies and includes nights and weekend coverage. Minimum 5 shifts/month required (prefer 8-10/month); ongoing availability for 12+ months preferred.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency medicine care to patients across all ages, managing a typical volume of 15-20 patients per shift
• Supervise and mentor advanced practice providers (APPs) to ensure safe, effective team-based care
• Manage ED admissions and write orders for inpatient transfer when needed
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in the Allscripts / Paragon electronic medical record
• Coordinate patient transfers and work collaboratively with consultant services including radiology, cardiology, pulmonology and others
• Support and run the fast track area when appropriate to keep patient flow moving
• Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine preferred
• Current or ability to obtain an Ohio medical license and DEA registration
• Minimum availability of 5 shifts per month, ideally 8-10; commitment of 12+ months preferred
• Experience working in community ED settings and supervising APPs
• Comfortable using Allscripts and Paragon EMR systems
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS encouraged where relevant
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with consultants and hospital staff

Education

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Medicine clinical skills for high-acuity and routine presentations
• ED patient flow optimization and fast track management
• Proficiency with Allscripts and Paragon electronic health records
• Experience overseeing APPs and delegating care safely
• Knowledge of inpatient admission processes and order entry
• Ability to coordinate patient transfers and work with regional consultants
