Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients thoroughly to identify clinical needs and changes in condition
• Plan and implement individualized nursing care in line with professional standards
• Provide telemetry monitoring and manage Telemetry patients as needed
• Deliver specialized stroke care using standardized tools and protocols
• Document care clearly and accurately to ensure continuity and high-quality outcomes
• Supervise and coordinate care delivered by others under your direction
• Evaluate patient responses and adjust care plans to optimize recovery

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Maryland (Compact license accepted) — must be active at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years recent Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience (required)
• Minimum 2 years experience working with stroke patients — list this experience on your resume (required)
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
• Certifications: EKG and NIHSS required; must be willing to obtain mRS/SIREN certification within 48 hours if offered
• COVID-19 vaccination required (declinations not accepted and must be state recorded)
• Resume with explanations for any gaps over 30 days (required)
• Two supervisory references (one within last 6 months and one within last 12 months) — required
• Skills checklist specific to Med Surg discipline (required)
• RN license verification (Nursys) less than 30 days old at submission

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment across the adult lifespan
• Care planning and implementation for med-surg and telemetry patients
• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Stroke care protocols and NIHSS assessment
• mRS/SIREN processes and quick certification uptake
• Clinical documentation best practices and electronic charting
• Strong judgment, prioritization, and delegation skills
• Ability to supervise and mentor others while maintaining quality of care
