Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of general surgical procedures, including laparoscopic cases, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs and abdominal vascular procedures
• Provide high-quality inpatient, outpatient and emergency surgical care across all adult age groups
• Perform GI endoscopy procedures (upper and lower endoscopy, colonoscopy) as part of comprehensive surgical practice
• Manage chest wall/pleural procedures and chest tube insertions when indicated
• Deliver compassionate pre-operative evaluation and post-operative follow-up, including wound care management
• Collaborate with CRNAs, scrub techs and circulating nurses to ensure safe, efficient operating room workflow
• Document thoroughly and accurately using Cerner EMR to support continuity of care
• Participate in the call schedule and contribute to the hospital’s Level 3 trauma response

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with completed surgical training
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery (explicitly requested)
• Credentialing timeframe noted at 60–120 days; ability to complete credentialing within that period
• Experience performing general surgery, laparoscopy, GI endoscopy and emergency surgical procedures
• Current BLS/ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
• Ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative hospital setting and participate in 1:4 call

Education

• MD or DO (Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine)
• Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong operative skills in general and laparoscopic surgery
• Proficiency in GI endoscopy (upper and lower) and colonoscopy
• Comfort managing inpatient, outpatient and emergency surgical patients
• Wound care expertise and post-operative complication management
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR for documentation and order entry
• Ability to lead and collaborate with perioperative teams including CRNAs and nursing staff
