Shift Type: Day shift, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; specific days vary by unit and are scheduled by the facility. 36 hours guaranteed; candidates may request time off up to their contracted hours (e.g., up to 36 hours for a 36-hour contract).

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients thoroughly using age-appropriate and condition-specific evaluation techniques
- Plan individualized nursing care based on assessment data and professional nursing standards
- Implement evidence-based nursing interventions including med-surg and telemetry care
- Monitor telemetry and interpret EKG trends to identify changes in patient status
- Manage and provide care for stroke patients, using standardized tools and protocols
- Document care clearly and accurately in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes
- Supervise and direct others when assigned and remain accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered
Qualifications
- Active RN license for Maryland (Compact allowed) — must be active at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years recent Med Surg and Telemetry experience (required and must be listed on resume)
- Minimum 2 years experience working with stroke patients (required and must be listed on resume)
- Willingness to accept telemetry patients as needed
- Willingness to obtain mRS/SIREN certification within 48 hours if offered
- Active American Heart Association BLS required at time of submission
- EKG and NIHSS certification (required or to be obtained per job requirements)
- COVID-19 vaccination required (declinations are not accepted)
- Required application items: GBMC cover page (can be provided if needed), resume with gaps >30 days explained, supervisory references (one within 6 months and one within 12 months), and a Med Surg-specific skills checklist
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and care planning for adult med-surg and telemetry patients
- Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation fundamentals
- Stroke patient management and use of stroke-specific assessment tools (NIHSS)
- Strong documentation skills and attention to regulatory compliance
- Clinical judgment, prioritization, and critical thinking in acute care settings
- Clear communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary care teams
- Ability to supervise or direct others and maintain quality of care
