Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care by assisting with activities of daily living
• Support safe patient handling and transfers while following facility protocols
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the nursing team promptly
• Chart accurately and timely in Cerner to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to meet patient needs
• Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment, following infection control practices
• Float between MedSurg and Telemetry units, adapting quickly to different patient populations

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification in good standing
• BLS (AHA) required and up to date
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience, with MedSurg and Telemetry exposure preferred
• Experience or comfort charting in Cerner is a plus
• Able to float between Mercy Downtown and Mercy Southwest (6 miles apart)
• Willingness to complete facility orientation (12 hours) and mandatory screenings

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong foundation in acute care principles and MedSurg/Telemetry nursing practices
• Competence in vital signs, basic assessments, and patient safety procedures
• Familiarity with electronic charting, ideally Cerner
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure
• Basic knowledge of infection control and safe patient handling techniques
