Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Days with varied starts between 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM, typically Monday-Friday for day assignments); Call shifts weekdays 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM; Rotating weekend shifts include 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, or 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM — schedule includes 3-4 call shifts in a 4-week cycle and EOW (every other week) call required; rotating (day & night).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room for trauma, ortho, vascular, neuro, ENT, thoracic, and general surgery cases
• Actively collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR team members to ensure safe, efficient case flow
• Prepare, maintain, and monitor sterile fields; anticipate supplies and instrumentation needs during cases
• Perform thorough patient assessments pre-, intra-, and post-operatively and document care in Cerner
• Respond to call duties promptly and manage patient care during weekday and weekend call shifts
• Uphold ACLS and BLS protocols during critical events and contribute to a culture of patient safety
• Mentor and support colleagues, contributing to a positive, team-focused OR environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (OR or acute care experience highly preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Operating Room (OR) nursing experience and comfort with trauma and surgical specialties
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system (experience preferred)
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and participate in rotating call schedules

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• ADN or BSN acceptable; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Trauma care workflows and rapid assessment skills
• Clinical knowledge across ortho, vascular, neuro, ENT, thoracic, and general surgery
• Proficient documentation in Cerner and accurate charting practices
• Strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to prioritize in high-acuity cases
• Comfort managing call responsibilities and flexible scheduling
