Roles & Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain accurate histories, vitals, height/weight and pulse oximetry
• Perform specimen collection and venipuncture accurately and with care
• Obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG and assist with monitor/device hookup when needed
• Administer immunizations and injections (IM and ID) following aseptic technique
• Prepare exam rooms, position and drape patients, and set up sterile trays
• Assist with dressing changes and aseptic wound care
• Administer medications as directed and support medication refill processes
• Handle telephone triage, follow-up calls and pharmacy/prescription requests
• Verify authorizations and insurance, schedule appointments, and manage supply ordering and stocking
• Chart thoroughly in Epic to support high-quality patient care and team communication

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program (required)
• High school diploma or GED (minimum)
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC (required)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an outpatient clinic setting
• Proficiency with venipuncture and blood draws (required)
• Flu vaccination required with no exemptions
• Familiarity with Epic charting system (required)
• Cardiology background preferred; CMA and previous charge experience are a plus

Education

• Medical Assistant diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program
• High School diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Specimen collection (capillary, urine, throat, stool) and correct labeling
• Venipuncture and blood draw techniques
• 12-lead EKG acquisition and basic ECG knowledge
• Immunization administration and injection techniques (IM/ID)
• Vital signs, patient rooming and obtaining accurate histories
• Aseptic technique for dressing changes and sterile tray setup
• Telephone triage, appointment scheduling, and insurance authorization verification
• Medication administration basics and refill workflow
• Ordering and stocking supplies, clinic workflow efficiency
• Proficient Epic charting and outpatient clinic procedures
