Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based respiratory care and diagnostic services to critical and non-critical patients across all age groups
• Perform thorough patient assessments and recommend respiratory treatment plans
• Operate and manage ventilators and related cardiopulmonary equipment safely and effectively
• Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases and other diagnostic data to guide therapy
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and the multidisciplinary team in the OR setting
• Document patient care, interventions, and responses clearly in the patient record
• Provide patient and family education about respiratory treatments and follow-up care
• Respond promptly to emergent respiratory needs in the perioperative and critical care environment

Qualifications

• Current NBRC-RRT registration (required)
• Current Oregon Respiratory Care License (required)
• Healthcare Provider BLS (required)
• ACLS, NRP, and PALS required for PCH Respiratory Therapy assignments
• Two years clinical experience in respiratory care preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and comfort working in perioperative/OR environments

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiopulmonary anatomy, physiology, and evidence-based treatment techniques
• Patient assessment and ventilator management skills
• Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment and diagnostic procedures
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
• Infection control practices and perioperative safety protocols
• Comfortable using electronic health records and documenting care
• Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced surgical and critical care settings
