Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care to adult patients on the K9A Oncology/Women's Surgical unit
• Administer medications and support chemotherapy treatment under facility protocols, following safety and documentation standards
• Monitor patient condition closely overnight, recognize changes, and act promptly to escalate care when necessary
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members including CNAs, HUCs, and physicians to ensure continuity of care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately using Cerner EMR
• Perform and assist with unit procedures as needed (e.g., thoracentesis support, echoes, pelvic exams) while maintaining patient comfort and safety
• Support safe patient ratios (typically 1:4 or 1:5) to deliver high-quality nursing care

Qualifications

• Valid RN license (active) — license required for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (as listed in job details)
• Current BLS certification required
• Chemo Certification preferred (candidates with chemo training considered first)
• Comfortable working with oncology patient populations and related procedures
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing best practices and chemotherapy administration principles
• Proficient use of Cerner electronic medical record for documentation and medication administration
• Strong assessment skills for recognizing acute changes overnight
• IV therapy and medication safety knowledge
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented med-surg environment
• Good communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
